Backdating Post For Blogs

March 22, 2008 – 11:37 pm

I love WordPress. Why, you may ask? One of the coolest feature within WP is the ability to backdate a post in your blog. When I say backdating post, I’m referring to a post that was posted in the present date, but used a date from the past.

For example, I wanted to fill in the days that I’d missed in the month of May 2007 with relevant content. To resolve this problem, I posted an article last week and within three days, Google indexed and cached the post. Here’s a live example of this backdated posting.

This was the first time that I’ve done this and I did not know if Google and other search engines will pick up on it or not. I was pleasantly surprised when Google indexed and cached that backdated posting within three days. According to Google, that post was “retrieved on 14 Mar 2008 09:30:21 GMT.” This is really good news because now I can go back in time and fill-in dates that I’ve missed.

Currently, I do not foresee any negative consequences to the practice of backdating post. I am merely adding more content to my blog and benefiting my readers simultaneously. This is a good thing.

I will keep you posted if I discovered anything interesting regarding this new development.
