This news comes as a new wave of hope in my opinion. There have been many rumors on the internet concerning new methods of obtaining free energy but, unfortunately, most of them turned out to be disappointments. Some people say that there are many free energy generators and new types of fuel kept hidden from the general public because the oil companies would have a lot to lose if the news of free energy got out in the open. And I always believed these rumors.
However, the problem is that there is less and less oil and experts estimate that in less than 50 years, it will simply run out. This is why the news of bacteria that can produce butanol in conditions that would kill other similar bacteria is extremely important.
The possibilities are practically limitless especially if scientists can find a way of breeding the bacteria in a safe and controlled way. It would also be of crucial importance to create a system that would allow the production of as much butanol as possible. Even though the technology might still be far from offering the results that would be needed, I believe this can be seen as a new hope for humanity when it comes to energy production.
